MY CHRISTMAS TOYS:

Christmas 1952

My Rocky Horse that Santa brought me.
(luckily I still have it)

RICH TOYS ROCKING HORSE, RICH TOYS ROCKY HORSE

Christmas 1953

Me on Christmas 1953
I'm sitting in the red upholstered rocker my Grandpa got me (he was working at Cleveland Chair Co. at that time), wearing my puppy dog? house shoes and holding a couple of toy cars.
You can see the HUBLEY? car hauler and JAY-MAR piano on the left.

(Click on image to see a larger version.)

(Christmas 1953)

My Christmas 1953 Hubley car hauler

(Christmas 1953)

I believe my car hauler was a
HUBLEY TRANSPORT Plastic Kiddie Toy No. 353

with 1953 or so Cadillacs.

I thought my auto transport truck was a STRUCTO, but some nice folks have been helpful.

(Note: The original photo was not sharp, so the enlarged images you'll see  is as good as it gets.)
You can see the eight (8) holes in the color photo and it appears there are also eight in my old black & white photo.

HUBLEY TRANSPORT Plastic Kiddie Toy No. 353
From  a series of hard plastic Hubley Kiddie Toys with rubber wheels,
sturdily constructed scale models
[ Sold at F.W. Woolworth for $1.69 ]

02-20-2006 UPDATE:

I found a truck and trailer and 2 cars on eBay.

I still would like the following:

Hubley 1953 Cadillacs, approx 4" long

WANTED:  Three (3) Hubley Cadillacs
(a RED, a SILVER and a YELLOW one)

WANTED:  an Original Box

Me on Christmas 1953

A Cropped close-up of my JAY MAR piano.
(Click on image to see a larger version.)

WANTED: My JAYMAR PIANO from Christmas 1953

Here's a blow-up crop of my JAY MAR Piano
It looks like a baby-grand with three (3) legs to me
It also appears to be black in color (or very dark at the least)

I lightened the image above, but can't tell it helped much
(You can see the legs a little better, I guess.)

(Christmas 1953)

I darkened the original image of my JAY-MAR Piano, but it doesn't help
(except you can see the colored guides behind the keys better.)
It appears to have had a total of 20 keys with 8 of them being black/sharp keys

My JAYMAR piano. A baby grand?
It had turned legs and was not an upright or a spinet piano.

WANTED:

(Photo from the Sears Wish Book)

MARX 5-UNIT ELECTRIC FREIGHT

(C) Imagine -- a complete 350-inch Electric Train Set with the same remote control of speed and direction as on our higher-priced trains for less than $10. Powered by super-detailed plastic steam-type locomotive with oiless bronze bearings, realistic piston-rod action, 4 die-cast wheels, gleaming headlamp.
Plastic tender and 3 lithographed metal cars: coal, tank car and caboose. Run train forward or backward, fast or slow -- by remote control without touching track or train!
UL Approved 45-watt transformer with 2 posts for 7 to 13 volts. (110-120-volt, 60-cycle AC). Ten sections of track.
79N09616 - Shipping weight 8 lbs. Complete $9.69

(may not be exactly like this one)

WANTED: The box for my old Marx Train set.

My uncle, Leach L. Lea, Jr., bought it for me around Christmas 1953 when he was going to the University of Tennessee. (Mom teases Pop, saying he and Jr. put me in the playpen so they could play with it.)

It had a Marx 400 Engine and 6" 4-wheel cars with plastic, fixed knuckle couplers.
There was an NYC Tender, NYC Caboose, Tank car and Hopper Car.
Like most people, the box got tossed. I don't think it had the red lettering, though.

The set number MAY have been: Marx 9616 or 9616-A , but I'm not sure.

Any ideas?????

Here's a pic of a nice Toy JEWEL-T Delivery Truck  I found online.

My HUBLEY No. 60 Truck & Flatbed Trailer with plastic Road Grader
(Christmas 1954)

(stock photos found online)

(stock photos found online)

Hubley No. 60 Flatbed with Road Grader

Note the grille, bumper and headlights!

I won this Hubley Number 60 Flatbed Low Boy with a road grader on eBay.
The grille and shape looks a lot like my mystery vehicle and the headlights and bumper on it appear to be bright enough to cause the reflection like mine did.
The shape of the Roadgrader looks like the "wishbone" shape (an inverted "U") looks like mine.

(Christmas 1954)

WANTED:

My old MARX SAND & GRAVEL TRUCK

A "stock photo" I found online that is probably what my truck looked like.

A "stock photo" I found online that is probably what my truck looked like.

I FOUND A TIN LIZZY!

(Christmas 1954)

TIN LIZZIE / TIN LIZZY Car
I remember it had a little lever you moved to make it go, don't know if it was battery or wind-up powered.
I think it had rubber tires on metal wheels.

(Christmas 1954)

In this close-up you can see my Modern Toys Tin Lizzie No. 4 on the right

(stock photos found online)
Someone sent me this pic and I believe it is like my old Tin Lizzie! Here's what they said about it:
ANTIQUE / VINTAGE TIN LIZZY -PULL / WIND with ACTION LEVER - It is approximately 5" LONG 4 ½ " TALL - TOY - MADE IN JAPAN - Trademark: MODERN TOYS - PATENT NO. 104210
Oldtimers No. 4 , Old Timers Number 4

Trade Mark Modern Toys Tin Lizzy , Modern Toys Tin Lizzie

WANTED: My Lost Jeep

My Jeep
Christmas 1954 or 1955

I would think it was a tin Jeep
It could have been made in Japan, but it could also have been made in Germany or Made in the USA
It probably was friction but it could have been battery powered???
It appears to have two soldiers or MP's in the front and the seats are white or light in color.
There's a large star on the hood and it appears to have had chrome bumpers and wheels / hub caps.
On the side it appears there's a shovel, probably painted-on and something above it.

NOTE: I scanned and blew-up as best I could these images from 2"x2" photos (and they were blurry somewhat themselves).

Some brands I've heard of: KO Jeep, KD Jeep, Daiya Jeep,  Modern Toys Jeep, Masudaya Jeep, Yonezawa Jeep, Gama Jeep, Gamma Jeep, Marx Jeep, .
keywords: KO, KD, Modern Toy, German jeep, Japanese, United States, Yone Jeep, Bandai Jeep, Nomura Jeep, T.N. Jeep, Lupor Metal Products,

Can anyone help?

UPDATE: I found one like I had after over a year of searching! It is scratched some and I would still accept another one if it was at a good price.
It is a Vintage KO Japan Tin Lithograph Friction Toy Jeep.
Vintage Yoshiya  (trademark KO) Japanese Litho Friction Toy Jeep.
Yoshiya (KO on a diamond); Yoshiya (KO in a diamond);
Yoshiya (KO trademark on a diamond);
Yoshiya (KO trademark in a diamond);

Here's what the logo looks like.
(It's on the side, below the door.)

(It could be a KD Friction Toy Jeep made in Japan as the letters are small and hard to read.)

(Full picture with me and my jeep)

A blow-up of  my Jeep

(Full picture with me and my jeep at another angle)

An insert off that pic
Note the Jeep at the bottom in front of the Marx Sand and Gravel truck (also missing)

The largest image I can blow-up of that angle (note the star on the hood)

My TONKA LIVESTOCK TRUCK / CATTLE TRUCK

Full picture
(Christmas 1954)

(Christmas 1954)
Note outline behind doll.

(Christmas 1954)
Here I've increased brightness and you can see the cattle trailer a little better.

(Christmas 1954)
Here I've added what might be the outline of the trailer and a rear tire.

Below are photos of a Tonka Livestock truck and trailer set that may be what I had.

(stock photos found online)
It may be a: TONKA TOYS No. 500 Live Stock Van
made by Mound Metalcraft, Inc. of Mound, Minnesota

Here's one that has a snub-nose truck. This may be it because of the spun wheels.
[I think this is the right truck as Tonka supposedly went to the snub-nose in 1954.]

(some trailers had a picture of a cow's head below the LIVESTOCK letters)

(stock photos found online)

(stock photos found online)
Here's a Tonka Livestock from 1949 - 1953 with a long-nose tractor and hubcaps.
(I'll bet mine was a snub-nose, but I'll take either one)

Here's an insert from my 1954 Christmas photo and
I believe the shiny horizontal line behind the roadgrader is the bumper of my Tonka Livestock Truck

On 06-20-2005 I thought mine was a Structo, but notice the angle of the side bracing at the rear.
Back-to-front, a Structo goes from the roof at a "45" down to the floor.
BUT, mine seems to go from the floor up to the roof.

Christmas 1955

CHRISTMAS
(circa 1955)

I really racked-up from Santa that Christmas.
From here I can see My Structo 910 Wrecker, a Steam Shovel, Road Grader, Lazy Days Farm and my play desk.

(see below for enlarged images of each toy)

WANTED: Marx LAZY-DAY FARM Play set
(Christmas 1955)

Lazy Day Farm Playset by Marx with cows chickens, horses, farmer, fence, etc..

Play Desk / Activities Desk
(Christmas 1955)

This was the neatest desk!
You could turn the knobs on the side and different scenes would roll up.
There was a blackboard on the desk part with ABC's, chalk, eraser. You could interchange it with a pegboard that came with different colored pegs. You could lift it up and there was storage underneath. It had a built-in seat, too.
(It may have been made by Falcon desk or it could have been a Play Craft desk,  Playcraft, Husky 250 or 400)

NOTE the scene on the back of the desk. There are two knobs on the right side that allowed you to roll the paper to different scenes.

I still have the desk, but it was stored in my parents' attic and paper bugs must've eaten on that paper as it is in bad shape, broken and brittle.
The paper has broken in two and rolled-up on the two rolls. (I've tried to unroll it, but it's so fragile it only breaks off.)
Does anyone have an idea of where to find a replacement for that paper???
It's approximately 15" wide

Thanks.

WANTED: My Structo Road grader
(Christmas 1955)

I played with my roadgrader in Cam and Lucille Cook's woods behind us, building roads and just digging.
(Cam had someone come and cut some timber off it once and when I went back to play some more that afternoon,
I discovered that the d*mn "wooders" stole My Toys!)
They also got my Steam Shovel, my Sand & Gravel, my Cattle Truck and my Road Grader!

My STRUCTO Steam Shovel
(Christmas 1955)

I played with it in Cam and Lucille Cook's woods behind us, building roads and just digging.
(Cam had someone come and cut some timber off it once and I think the "d" wooders stole it and my roadgrader!)
I think it may have been a Structo Steamshovel, Structo Steam Shovel 1955, 1956, 1957 ???

NOTE: the small decal just above the opening where the boom attaches to the cab.
(It's right under the handle for the toy shovel.)
NOTE: The narrow tread.

Here's an image of one I won on eBay. It is what my STRUCTO STEAM SHOVEL looked like.
(see the decal on the front of the cab as well as the narrow tread)

WANTED: Two (2) matching replacement rubber treads / tracks for this steam shovel.
(These dimensions are approximate:) 11/16" wide x  17" long with  3/8" tread spacing and a "V" on the interior.
I also need a "clip" that connects the ends of the tread together.

My Structo Towing Service No. 910 wrecker
I'm looking for the Structo wrenches
for my 1950's Structo Towing Service No. 910 Wrecker.
I got it for Christmas in 1955

Wanted: Structo wrench, wanted Structo wheels, wanted Structo tires, wanted Structo tire, wanted Structo axle nut, wanted Structo acorn nut, wanted Structo axle, Wanted Structo rear tires, wanted Structo wrecker for parts, structo wrecker, strutco wrecker,

WANTED:
SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION with cars that Santa brought on Christmas circa 1956

Here's me with the Superior Service Station that Santa brought

I believe it was a T Cohn SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION
It may be Superior Service Station Model 25
Model Number 25, Model # 25

(Christmas 1956)
TCOHN SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION
T-COHN SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION
T. COHN SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION, T. CONN
Copyright 1949 T Cohn Inc NY, NY Designed by Lola Frank
The Number may be Superior 15-175, T. Cohn Service Station 15-175
I don't think it is Model #866, 866

I do not think it was a METOY SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION??

01-04-2006 Update: I finally found this one on eBay.
I'm bidding on it and we'll see what happens.

It is the first decent one I've seen, but it's missing the pumps and lots of other stuff.
(Note the red tank on the ceiling. It's missing the rubber hose.)

I've found other variations online, but none like mine. (see below)

My station

My station

A pic I found at www.Toys-n-cars.com (check out Dean Milano's great site)
that has the tower in the center, but...
  • The clock on it is round, mine is rectangular

  • The pumps are yellow, mine were red

  • Mine had some kind of bucket? on the right post

  • I don't think mine had a snack bar.

  • This one doesn't say: SUPERIOR SERVICE STATION

Here's one that has the rectangular clock, but.....
  • The tower is on the right side, not the center

  • The pumps are not centered

  • Mine didn't have the car "shelves" in the front

Jumping Dog, wind-up

(Christmas 1956)

(I think it had a bell on its collar and a slipper in its mouth. I think when you wound it up it would hop on its front legs.)

WANTED
Red Fire Truck that Santa brought me on Christmas circa 1956

Here I am with the Red Fire Truck that Santa brought on Christmas 1956

(Click on image to see a larger version.)
(Christmas 1956)

This was a neat fire truck.
It was red and I think it had two ladder cranks on it.
I also think the cranks were chrome. (I thought the ladders were chrome, but they look aluminum or painted in this pic.)

[The tractor looks like a snub-nose, early-50's (1953 ?) Chevrolet or GMC.]

Does anyone know what brand and model number it was?

UPDATE: 01-25-2006
I think I found it........

SSS International Ladder-Truck

I finally found one on eBay and I think this is it!

The cab looks like it as do the ladder cranks!

I WON IT!
(But, the gears that raise the ladder do not work for some reason!)

On the left I can make out "AUT", so it may have said automatic????
