Thank you all and GOD BLESS AMERICA! PS: My "If I had
three wishes": Q. How do we solve the immigration problem? A1. Anyone can
come here to work AFTER they pass a US GED test in English and a
background check.
Why was gas $3.00 a gallon? Want to know the truth? We had $3.00 a gallon gas because of "supply and demand". When are tomatoes more expensive? In the winter, right? We can't grow 'em here in mass in the winter, so we have to get most all of them from places that do. Right? There are fewer tomatoes to go around in the Winter, so they cost more. Right? What if one political party cried and moaned about raising tomatoes in the US so much that they stopped them from being raised here? Tomatoes would be expensive year-round. Right? Well..... Same thing for gas. Here goes: (Now, I know the truth is hard to take for some of you die-hard democrats to take, but just hold your breath and it'll be over in a minute.) When Bush first got into office he wanted to DRILL FOR OUR OWN OIL in Alaska. To listen to the news you would think it would be the end of life itself. ("OH, THE POOR CARIBOU!") Want to know one argument the democrats screamed. "IT WILL TAKE FOUR YEARS BEFORE WE SEE THE FIRST DROP!" (Guess, what? That "four years" had long passed and we could be using that oil now.) Want to know ANOTHER BIG reason? The d*mn democrats have shrieked and moaned and not allowed any oil refineries to be built in America FOR THIRTY (30) YEARS!!!!!!!! All we have are running 24/7 and can't keep up. Plus, many of them are in the Gulf and when the hurricanes wiped them out that caused shortages. Another? There is plenty of oil in the Gulf of Mexico, but the d*mn dems won't let us drill for it. ("FLIPPERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!") Guess what, the Chinese and others are going to drill in the Gulf now! Just out of our claim on the waters. So, we'll be paying $5.00 and gallon someday soon and the news and the democrats will blame Bush. The only thing Bush should be blamed for is not getting on TV and telling everyone: "THE D*MN DEMOCRATS BLOCK EVERY EFFORT TO MAKE US SELF-SUFFICIENT AND THEN WHEN IT COMES BACK TO BITE US IN THE BUTT, THEY BLAME EVERYONE BUT THEMSELVES!" Another? The evil oil companies??? Hmmmm. They risk money, testing and drilling all over, looking for oil. Sometimes they find it, most times they don't. How much do they make on a gallon of gas? TEN CENTS! OK. The government. What do they do? The hide in the shadows like the mafia and wait for them to do all the work. When the do strike it rich, the step out and say: "OK, you can keep your 10 cents a gallon, but the governments get FIFTY CENTS A GALLON in taxes!" (Guess which party favors HIGHER TAXES?) It's time for America to learn the truth. Voting for a party is like getting into bed with everyone in that party. I don't want to get into bed with that bunch above. Phil Lea a NON-democrat
A little about me and ........................ how I became a NON-democrat: Confessions of a Former Democrat......... I grew up in Polk County Tennessee, so therefore, I was born a democrat. I grew up playing in my "fort" that dad built for me, skinning knees, being awakened every Christmas morning by a big "HO HO HO" from "Santa" as he flew away & then running to the tree to see what he left, going to the Benton Station Baptist Church, being "Saved" up on Benton Mountain during an "RA" camping outing, getting Baptized in the cold Ocoee River below the old Reynold's bridge, taking only my "taw" to school and coming home with both pockets bulging with marbles (I was very good), "hoopie-hide", watching Andy Griffith, getting my first motorcycle at 13, riding Diane Burgess around on my Honda 150 Dream, souping-up the '67 Camaro, going to the Star Vue Drive-In and lots of other things a boy of the 50's in the South did. My first "job" came quite by accident. During Vacation Bible School one Summer, when I was about ten years old, I made a shoe-shine box. It was crude, I guess, but it was functional. John & Dot Cassada owned the local "country store" that was just a ¼ mile down the road. For some reason I took my shoe-shine kit down there and bought some black and brown shoe polish. (I guess I borrowed dad's shoe brush.) Anyway, I asked some of the locals on the porch if they wanted their shoe shined for a quarter and a few of them did. One shine paid for an entire can of shoe polish and I thought that was the greatest thing. (I guess I've been an entrepreneur ever since.) I have great parents, Edward and Glenda Lea. They are both very hard-working. When I was growing-up they didn't make a lot of money, BUT they managed it well. They never told me "manage you money wisely", but I guess I learned it by example. Mom couldn't have any more children, so I got lots of love. (Yes, I'm spoiled!) I later came to know that for as long as there has been dirt the democrats party ruled Polk county. My first memory of dad talking about voting was something to the effect of: "I checked democrat and pulled the lever." I didn't know what that meant at the time, but it sounded powerful. I remember voting for Jimmy Carter in 1976. According to the news (and Saturday Night Live), Ford was only famous for falling down. Plus, he pardoned that crook, Nixon. Plus, Carter was a regular Southerner like me. Plus, my daddy votes democrat. Plus, my grand-daddy voted democrat. Plus, we only vote democrat in Polk County. Right? (I do remember mom coming back from voting once and laughingly telling dad: "I just cancelled your vote.", though.) In November of 1975, at the age of 24, I started TAPE CITY, an independent record store, in Athens TN in another county with $5,000 I borrowed from John Taylor at Benton Bank on a "6 month note". (ALL the banks in Athens turned me down.) Initially, I was too busy with working 12 hours a day, seven days a week (all ALONE) to pay attention to politics. I was "chief cook and bottle washer" and used the common sense my parents had given me to make a go of it. I paid back $1,000, plus interest at the end of the first 6 months and got another note for $4,000. (The next time I paid $1,000 plus interest. The next time I paid it ALL off!) Sometime during the first year I had a couple of high-school students and was becoming able to breathe a little. I then started to see the "Real World" out there. Four years of Carter had given us: gas lines, the Iran Hostage Crisis, high inflation, high interest rates (I thought I got a deal when I later paid "only" 17% interest to buy a building), gas lines, depleted military, etc...... Then came Ronald Reagan running for president as a Republican. I'd never heard of him, but ABC, NBC & CBS (then they were my only 3 options) must have. After listening to them on the evening news I gathered Reagan must've been over 100 years old. He must have had "hardening of the arteries", too. He had been an actor, but his only movies were with a monkey. And, if he ever got his hand on "the button", he would get us all killed in a nuclear war! (Scary, huh?) BUT..... here and there I got to hear clips of him speaking and no amount of biased, liberal media spin could cover up the truth. Because of the great Ronald Wilson Reagan I BECAME A FORMER DEMOCRAT! I was now a NON-democrat!! It was no contest. I learned that I WAS A CONSERVATIVE! I WAS A REPUBLICAN! In November 1980 I VOTED FOR REAGAN!!!!!! I remember watching the 1980 election results on my TV at Tape City with "Big-T" (a regular customer who happened to wander that evening in and stayed to watch with me). We stayed there after hours. I remember our commenting on the pictures of the candidates they had posted on the screen. Carter was higher with a flattering version of his goofy smile. Reagan was below him with a purposely-chosen unflattering image. (We were both yelling "LOOK AT THAT! UNFAIR!" at the screen!) It was wonderful to see the beaten faces of the anchors as the results came pouring in. And, when they finally begrudgingly announced Reagan the winner..... WE CHEERED! I remain a former democrat because I do not want to "get into bed" with (vote the same way as) liberals, extreme environmentalists, gays, lesbians, NAACP, ACLU, PETA, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and on and on. [ I AM A CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE, THEREFORE I AM A NON-DEMOCRAT.com! - Phil Lea ] At this time the Republican Party better represents my values much more than the democrat party does. Phil Lea
